Willie Boyd Jr. 71, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away Friday, November 5, 2021 at Belle Plaine Specialty Care, Belle Plaine, Iowa.

Services are pending with Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine, IA.

Willie Boyd Jr was born July 27, 1950 in Memphis, TN to the late Elder Willie Boyd and Mrs. Essie M. (Brooks) Boyd.  He attended Memphis City Schools and was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School class of 1968. Following high school, Willie joined the U.S. Navy and served in Vietnam. Following his time in the Navy, Willie returned to Memphis for a few years.  He later moved to Cedar Rapids, IA where he met and married his wife Cynthia E. Carter. Willie settled down In Cedar Rapids with Cyndie and the kids and was employed with the Cedar Rapids school district until his retirement.

Willie was a fun-loving guy and had a great since of humor. He was well known for his colorful embellishments of the truth.  He will be missed by family and friends alike.

Willie was preceded in death by his loving wife Cyndie, his brother Arthur Boyd (Carolyn) and sisters Inez Brown (Jerry) and Luvenia Reynolds (Thomas).

Willie leaves to cherish his memory a son, Mario Boyd (Joann); daughters, Melissa Carter, Monica Carter; sisters, Loisteen Singleton (Curtis), Barbara Love (Odell), Patricia Faulkner (Michael), Roslyn Boyd; special brother, William Shannon and his beloved grands, LaTasia (Bret) Davidson, Jayden Carter, Korderro Carter, Kaden Carter; great grands, Noah, Skylar, Kenneth, Jagger and one on the way; an many nieces and nephews.  We will all miss him.
