Wesley John Posekany, 86, of Chelsea, IA passed away October 11, 2023 at Grinnell Reginal, Grinnell, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2023 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Chelsea, IA. Burial will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Chelsea.

Wesley was born November 24, 1936 to John F. and Mayme C. (Kratoska) Posekany at home in Chelsea. Wes attended St. Joseph's Catholic School in Chelsea until 8th grade before working full time on the family farm north of Chelsea. Wes was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1959, where he served in France and traveled to Ireland, England, Scotland, Spain and Portugal. Following his service in 1961, Wes returned to the family farm, where he worked the land until retirement. Following retirement, Wes remained a farmer at heart, spending Sunday afternoons checking the crops.

Wes enjoyed reading and watching westerns. He loved his animals and was loyal to his family and friends, taking care of those in need. He was generous with what he had, delivering produce to friends and neighbors. Wes was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his sisters, Sr. Patricia Posekany and Sr. Veronica Jo Posekany, both of Omaha. Wes is preceded in death by his parents.
