Victor Joseph Landuyt, 95 of Blairstown, Iowa died January 1, 2013 at Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids, la. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 PM Friday with a Rosary service at 7:00 at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. Services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, January 5 at St. John's Catholic Church in Blairstown by Rev. Craig Steimel, Celebrant where there will be a visitation and an hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine with Military Honors. The son of Edmund and Cantellis DeSlover Landuyt, Victor was born December 13,1917, in Safford, Alabama. As a young child he moved with his family to the Victor area where he graduated from the Chelsea School. On December 30,1942, he married Wilma Papesh. They had 4 children together. She preceded him in death on November 14,1967. On July 1,1970, he married Winifred Merchant Duchacek. He served in the Army Air Corps and Army in World War II. He was a part-time electrician and full time farmer, retiring in 1980. He was a faithful member of the St. John's Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, fishing and Rolle Bolle. Survivors include his wife, Winifred, three daughters, Vicki Thorman (Bill) of Blairstown, Kay Ellen Landuyt (Larry Robinson) of Robins, Patti Landuyt of Belle Plaine and daughter-in-law, Karen Landuyt of Cedar Rapids. Three step-daughters, Dixie Johnson (Gary) of Fraizer Park, CA, Debbie White (Doug) of Vinton & Deanna Daugherty (Jerry) of Coralville. One sister, Rachael Hodina of Ely; and one brother, Edmund (Lucille) Landuyt of Belle Plaine; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Vic was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Wilma; his son,James Victor Landuyt; his grandson, Christopher Landuyt; four brothers, Henry, Fred, Alfonce and Charly Landuyt; and three sisters, Mary Papesh, Margaret lezek and Marcella Schafer. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
