Tonja Lynn Verdeck, 58, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away March 13, 2022 at her home.

Tonja was born August 14, 1963 in Marengo, IA to Dee and Linda (Schlagel) Courtney. Tonja grew up in Belle Plaine. Through a school program she began working for Town & Country Wholesale.  Upon graduating from Belle Plaine High School, class of 1981, Tonja continued her career with Town & Country. Where she served as office manager for 41 years.

Tonja showed her compassion for people through her skill of crocheting. Donating hats and scarves to the school and ambulance crew; making prayer shawls for hospitals, nursing homes and the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center.

She is survived by her mother, Linda Clemons of Belle Plaine; sister Teri (Andy) Hartz of Blairstown; brother, Josh (Patricia) Clemons of Orange County, CA; nieces and nephews, Trevor Hartz, Tyler Hartz, Alexis O'Neill and Madison Clemons; step-siblings, Ray, Chris and Gene; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Tonja is preceded in death by her father.

Memorial service is 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2022 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service Belle Plaine with Vicar Nick Palmer officiating. Private family burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine.
