Sidney Samuel Sokol, 87, of Toledo, IA passed away December 5, 2016 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama, IA.

Services are 10:00 a.m., Saturday. December 10, 2016 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service in Belle Blaine, IA. Burial will take place at National Cemetery in Vining, IA.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2016 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service and will continue one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.hrabakfuneralhome.com

Sidney was born on the family farm near Vining, April 11, 1929 to James and Libbie (Dvorak) Sokol. After attending school in Vining, he began to work on the family farm. On August 23, 1955, he married Shirley Zeman and the couple raised three children on the farm.

He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with family. Sidney was a member of the CSA Hall in Vining and a supporter of South Tama Band Boosters.

He is survived by his children, Doug Sokol of Toledo, IA, Janelle (Bill) Murty of Traer, IA, and David (Susie Dickenson) Sokol of Toledo, IA; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Barb) Zeman and Roger Zeman both of Elberon IA; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Sidney was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley, and brother, Lester Sokol.
