Richard H. Roggentien, 85, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away Thurs. March 1, 2018 at his home.

Richard was born July, 7, 1932 to John and Jannette (Minneart) Roggentien in Millersburg, IA. He attended Marengo High School. Following school Richard enlisted in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1957. On Jan. 1, 1955 he married Patricia Wheeler at the Methodist Church in Belle Blaine. He worked on radiators in Marengo and operated Roggentien Electric for 10 years. After retirement Richard worked for Marengo Monuments.

Richard loved fishing and enjoyed spending time outdoors mowing lawns for Belle Plaine parks and cemeteries. He also enjoyed traveling around and exploring cemeteries.

He was a member of the Marengo and Belle Plaine American Legions.

He is survived by his children, Richard (Linda) Roggentien Jr. of Belle Plaine, Rebecca (David) Albertsen of Keystone, Raymond Roggentien, Robert Roggentien and Robin Roggentien all of Belle Plaine; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and sister, Francis Ritchie of Marengo.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia; granddaughter, Roberta; brothers, Raymond, Gerald, Harold and Duane.
