Raymond Dale Van Norden, 85, of Chelsea, IA passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Belle Plaine Specialty Care, Belle Plaine, IA.

Raymond was born July 2, 1935 to Cornelius J. and Leona (Wynn) Van Norden in Chelsea. He attended country school near Chelsea before working on the family farm. Raymond served in the United States Army until 1963. When he came home from the service, he began Van Norden Construction an earth moving business and eventually became a truck driver, retiring form Wynne Transport in 2009.

On January 9, 1965 Raymond married Sharon Hayek in Tama, IA. Together they moved to their home where they raised their two children.

Raymond loved to tinker in his shop and loved to be around family and friends and always put others before himself.

He is survived by his children, Mark (Dana) Van Norden of Tulsa, OK, Kimberly (Randy) Weber of Chelsea; granddaughter, Blake Weber of Chelsea; sisters, Mary (George) Gutierrez of IL and Connie Kasal of Belle Plaine.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon Van Norden; brothers, Jim and Carroll Van Norden; sister, Joyce Anthony; brother-in-law, Jim Kasal.

Private family graveside service will take place at Rector Cemetery, Chelsea, IA at a later date.
