Michael "Mike" Charles Nolte, 58, of Watkins, Iowa, passed away at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following an illness.

Mike was born on September 3, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Charles William and Marlene Rose (Blankman) Nolte. He spent his early years in Watkins, after the loss of his father, Mike moved with his family to Cedar Rapids, where he graduated from Jefferson High School with the Class of 1985. He continued his education at Kirkwood Community College, earning a degree in Diesel Technologies. Following graduation, Mike returned to the family farm, working alongside his uncles and cousins and carrying on a proud family tradition.

In the late 1980s, Mike began his career at Amana Refrigeration (Whirlpool), where he dedicated 38 years of hard work and commitment. He was known for his strong work ethic and quiet reliability.

Mike found great joy in the outdoors and had a lifelong passion for tractors—especially the red ones. He enjoyed collecting, restoring, and even sketching them, combining his mechanical skill with a creative touch. He was also a devoted fan of the Watkins Mudhens, always willing to lend a hand wherever he was needed.  Even though he was allergic, he had a special fondness for his cats.

Mike will be remembered for his playful sense of humor and easygoing spirit. A natural jokester, he brought smiles to those around him.

Mike is survived by his sister, Diana (Keith Wernimont) Jones of Monticello; niece, Aimee (Steve) Clemmons of Monticello and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his nephew, Nicholas, grandparents, and long time girlfriend Cheryl Ray.
