Mary Francis Shahan, 68, of Cedar Rapids, IA passed away October 30, 2026 at her home, due to medical complications.

Mary was born on August 6, 1958, in Chicago, IL, to Thomas and Maxine (Devaughn) Gray. She attended Richards Career Academy in Chicago.

In 2007, Mary married Michael Shahan. She was employed by the City of Cedar Rapids, though Park Cedar Rapids until her retirement.

Mary enjoyed cooking, reading, and crocheting. She also had the opportunity to travel the world and experience new places. Above all, Mary was a caregiver and homemaker taking pride in caring for others and making her house a home.

Mary is survived by her husband of 20 years, Mike; children, Audrey (Kirby) Foreman Olney, IL and Robert Gray of Marshell, IL; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rose Clark of Pekin, IL, Nancy Gray of Olney, IL; brother, Ronald Gray of Clay City, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Watson, Edward, Kenny, and Thomas.

Private family burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine, IA. Memorials may be directed to the family.
