Martha Marie Plucar, 93, of Elberon, IA passed away April 7, 2023 at Keystone Care Center, Keystone, IA.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Belle Plaine, with Deacon Joe Behounek officiating. Burial will take place at National Cemetery in Vining, IA.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m., Monday, April 10, 2023 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.neuhausfuneralservice.com
Martha was born April 16, 1929 to John and Mary (Pokorny) Ledvina in rural Tama County. On October 24, 1950 Martha married Alvin Leo Plucar at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in rural Vining. The couple farmed near Clutier until 1969, when they purchased the family farm near Elberon. Together they raised their five children.
Martha enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting and was a skilled seamstress, repairing many of her kids clothing. She was a great baker, always making plenty of kolaches, rohlikies, cookies and bars for family and friends. Martha loved to socialize, she looked forward meeting with her neighborhood ladies club, morning coffee group and monthly neighborhood card club with Alvin playing pepper. Together the couple loved to go Polka dancing and listen to Polka music.
Martha was active in her faith as a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she served with the ladies' group; and most recently St. Michael's Catholic Church, Belle Plaine she was also a member of Clutier American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Ruth Plucar of Conroy; children, Greg (Renita) Plucar of Luzerne, Shirley (Kent) Warnke of Lakeville, MN, Carol (Bret) Durbin of Jefferson, IA; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and twin sister, Marcella Vranek of Des Moines, IA.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin Plucar (2017); daughter, Lori Plucar; son, Dennis Plucar; son-in-law, Roger Vileta; brothers, Harry and Melvin Ledvina.
