Henry "Heinie" Howard Mantz, 92, of Keystone, IA passed away peacefully at his home September, 25, 2018 following a battle with cancer.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 28, 2018 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Luzerne, IA with Rev. Dean Duncan officiating. Burial will take place at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Luzerne, with military honors.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Church and will continue one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences can be sent to the family at

Henry was born October 3, 1925 to William Wayne and Hattie Matilda (Neumann) Mantz. He attended country school until the 10th grade when he went to work as a farm hand. Henry entered the U.S. Navy in 1945,
he was stationed on the USS Kline in San Diego, CA. Following his service, he returned home to continue his work as a farm hand. On September 10, 1950, he married Darlene Mary Kramer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Together the couple worked hard to accomplish Henry's dream of owning his own farm.
Henry enjoyed old cars and working on them, he was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Luzerne and the Belle Plaine American Legion Post #39. He was also a founding member and served on the board of the Farmers 4 County Co-op.
He is survived by his four children, Linda (Ed) Wheeler of Mt. Vernon IL, Larry (Lynn) of Luzerne, Brian (Kim) and Craig (Julie) both of Belle Plaine; grandchildren, Rachel (Darric) McLeod, Abbi (Jon) Garling, Brandi (Matt) Delveau, Brandon and Kenzie Mantz; great-grandchildren, Coralou, Adley and Kaylin McLeod, Andie and Olive Garling, Charlie Delveau; sisters Eleanor Maas, and Shirley (Loren) Witte.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents; wife Darlene (2017); brothers Harold, Raymond and Gaylord Mantz; and sister, Norma Dusterhoff
