Hawanda "Dolly" Winnifred Purk, 97 of Belle Plaine, IA passed away December 31, 2020 at Belle Plaine Specialty Care.

Dolly was born August 14, 1923 to Oscar and Winnifred (Wright) Basket in Iowa City, IA. She graduated from City High in Iowa City. Dolly married Robert Charles Purk on May 25, 1948. The couple moved to Cedar Rapids for a short time before eventually moving to Irving, IA where they raised their children and together began Purk's Garage.

Dolly enjoyed stamp collecting, reading, and jigsaw puzzles. Together Dolly and Robert liked to fish, go to the casino to play bingo and most of all they loved to travel.

She is survived by her sons, Don (Nancy) Purk of Irving and Ron Purk of Des Moines; daughter, Kay McElhannon of Crescent City, CA; daughter-in-law Kim Purk of Belle Plaine and Monique Davis of Hot Springs, AR; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren, and one on the way.

Dolly is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert (2008) sons, Tim, Ray and Jim Purk; infant son, Petey; great-grandchildren, Kieran Kramer, Tiana Purk; sister, Susan Basket; and daughter-in-law, Melody Purk.

Service is 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2021 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service with Pastor Leanna Van Zandt Nauman officiating. Visitation will take place one-hour prior at the funeral home.
