Gerald W. "Jerry" Veit, 75, died Friday, February 14, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a short illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, February 18 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chelsea with Rev. Michael Mescher, Celebrant with Deacon Joe Behounek assisting. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 PM Monday at the church. Jerry is survived by sons, Nick (Amy) Veit of Marion and Andrew (Jenelle) Veit of Chelsea; daughters, Amy (Rob) Gordon of Omaha and Gretchen (Alex) Sturgeon of Bennington, Nebraska; sister, Debbie (John) Sheda of Independence, Iowa; and seven grandchildren, Jacob, Tanner, Abigail, Lauren, Emerson, Vanessa, and VinLee. Hrabak Funeral Home is serving the family.
