Evelyn Formanek Hinkel, 97, formerly of Belle Plaine passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion, IA. Evelyn was born February 3, 1919 to Albert and Clara (Houck) Rayner in Belle Plaine. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1936. In 1939 Evelyn married Charles Formanek Jr. They were blessed with two daughters. The couple later went their separate ways. In 1987 Evelyn left Belle Plaine to live in the Cedar Rapids and Marion areas. She married Gene Hinkel on December 27, 1988. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Janet (Formanek) Doud of Gainesville, Florida; grandchildren, Jennifer Novak of Houston, TX and Justin Doud of Van Meter, IA; great-grandchildren, Elisabeth and Rachel Novak, and Dynas and Drake Doud. She is preceded in death by her daughter Jeanne Formanek, husbands, parents, and sisters, Maxine Duncalf of Milan, IL, and Jean Keller of Cedar Rapids, IA.
