Emma Helen Vileta Homolar of Tama and formerly of Elberon died Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama from complications of age. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, November 30 at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Vining. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 PM Friday Emma, born October 31, 1915 near Elberon. Married Wilfred Homolar August 24, 1936. They lived on the Homolar family farm NW of Elberon for 32 years then moved to their farm north of Vining and lived there for 37 years. After Wilfred died in May of 2005, Emma lived at the Willow Apartments in Toledo. She lived at Sunny Hill since June, 2011. Emma enjoyed working outside on the farm as well as sewing, cooking, crocheting, fishing, and playing Bingo. She loved spending time with her family. Her grandchildren have many fun memories. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, all sisters, brother and in-laws, two sons in-law, one grandson, and one great-granddaughter. Survivors include three daughters, Karen (Don - deceased) Walton of Farmington, Janice (Dick) Pooley of Cedar Rapids, and Kathy (Clarence - deceased) Gingerich of Walford; seven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
