Donald Wayne Janss, 91, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Memorial Service is 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service in Belle Plaine with Pastor Charles Johnson officiating. Burial will take place at Westview Cemetery, La Porte City, IA with military honors.

Donald was born January 11, 1925 to Henry and Elizabeth (Severin) Janss at the family farm in Belle Plaine. After graduating from Belle Plaine High School, Donald joined the army from 1950 to 1952. Donald married Gladys Meadows in the early 50's. They were married for 50 plus years, following her passing Donald was reunited with a high school friend Alice Zeebe. The couple were married in 2006.

Don worked for the post office for 23 years, and sold feed for Standard Feeds for 20 years.

Along with being an avid story teller, Don enjoyed country music, gardening, remodeling houses, and puzzles. He was member of the American Legion.

Don is survived by his nieces and nephews.
