Darlene Mae Konicek, 89, formerly of Clutier, IA passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Mercy Hospital Cedar Rapids, IA A funeral service is 10:30 am Saturday, April 2, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chelsea, IA with Deacon Joe Behounek officiating. Visitation is 4-6 pm Friday, April 1, 2016 at Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine, IA. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Burial will take place at National Cemetery in Vining, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.hrabakfuneralhome.com Darlene was born September 1, 1926 to Emil and Mary (Zeman) Yilek at the Family farm near Elberon, IA. She attended country school; following school Darlene married George Konicek Jr. on April 10, 1947 at the Little Brown Church, in Nashua, IA. The couple lived on the family farm. Darlene worked as a meter reader for REC, and at Pioneer. She also helped George on the farm. Darlene enjoyed being outdoors mowing and gardening, along with shopping and going out to eat. She was a member of Tama Eagle Club, Clutier American Legion Auxiliary, and Iowa Farm Bureau Federation Darlene is survived by her daughter, Connie (Al) Weaver of Tama; siblings, Duane (Carol) Yilek of Garwin, Imogene Taylor of Belle Plaine, and Gladys Maule of Toledo; grandchildren, Mike Polka Jr. and Mindy (Jason) Frazier both of Memphis,TN; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Buffington and Murray Polka of Memphis, TN, along with many more loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; siblings, Vernon Yilek, Emil Yilek, Vivian Karkosh, and Evelyn Konicek.
