Charles "Charlie" J. Vesely, 86, of Keystone, IA passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the Keystone Care Center from Parkinson disease.

Charlie was born February, 1, 1937 to Joseph and Antonia (Kohoutek) Vesely on the family farm near Elberon. He attended country school till 8th grade and graduated from Toledo High School, class of 1955. Following school, Charlie worked at Wilson's and Allis Chalmer in Cedar Rapids before taking over the family farm. On July 13, 1961 Charlie married Dolores Cibula at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vining.

Together they raised their family on the Vesely family farm, where Charlie retired after 75 years. The couple remained on the farm until 2019. When together they moved to assisted living in Keystone, IA.

Charlie enjoyed fishing, antique tractors, tractor pulls, flea markets, farm sales, Weeda's auctions, and the 10 years he volunteered at the Iowa State Fair. Charlie was a big racing fan from watching NASCAR to spending every Sunday evening in Vinton at the races. Charlie and Dolores cherished their time together. Going to numerous polka dances, dancing the two-step, playing cards in the evenings, and traveling as often as they could. They took many trips throughout the United States, two trips to the Czech Republic and spent 14 years wintering in Texas.

Charles was a member of the National Farmers Organization and active in the Vining community. He played a vital role in reopening the CSA Hall, president of the National Cemetery Association and enjoyed coffee time with friends at the Vining grocery store for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolores Vesely of Keystone. Son, Dan (Sue) Vesely of Elberon; grandson, Matthew (Jackie Rogers) Vesely; great-grandchildren, Levie, Chevelle and Ross Vesely, Ashlie Hemenway; grandson, Grant (Jamie) Vesely; great-granddaughter, Finley Vesely; step-granddaughter, Alicia (Troy) Titcomb; step-great-grandson, Gavin Knoop; step-grandson, Wendell (Sara) Knoop; step-great-grandchildren, Travis and Evan Waller, Zane Knoop. Daughter-in-law, Doreen Vesely; grandchildren, Derek and Jeremy Vesely. Daughter, Sue (Doug) Kaloupek of Elberon; grandchildren, Joey (Taylor Plumb) Kaloupek, Danielle (Jordan Lehman) Kaloupek; greatgrandchildren, Ellie Lehman. Sister, Libbie Dvorak; and sister-in-law, Mary Cibula.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeff Vesely; sisters, Blanch (Comondore) Collins, Mildred (Fred) Chalupsky, Rose (Elmer) Sass; brother-in-law, Milvoy Dvorak.

Funeral service is 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 9, 2023 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine, with Deacon Joe Behounek officiating. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Vining, IA.

Visitation is 4-6 p.m., Sunday, October 8th at the funeral home. Any memorials directed to the family will be donated to Parkinson's Association, Keystone Care Center, or Essence of Life Hospice in Charles name.
