Carlyn Ann Prichard, 81, of Belle Plaine passed away peacefully with family by her side at her home in Belle Plaine on November 18, 2024.

Carlyn was born February 10, 1943, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the daughter of Carlos and Evelyn (Dvorak) Viall.  She grew up in Belle Plaine and attended Belle Plaine schools.  On October 22. 1959 she was united in marriage to Donald Prichard at St. Michael's Parish House in Belle Plaine, IA. To this union five children were born. They later divorced. Carlyn was a homemaker for years, staying home on the farm with the children.  She later worked at Funk's and the Belle Plaine Nursery doing seasonal work. She spent several years working at the Belle Plaine Care Center as a dietary aide until retiring.  She really enjoyed her time there and loved all her co-workers and residents.

Carlyn loved her Hawkeyes and looked forward to watching them play.  She also loved her professional wrestling. Between the two you could often find her getting wound up and yelling at her tv!  She also had a love of Scooby Doo and decked her car in Scooby gear. She loved to go to the casino with her family and in later years enjoyed scratching lottery tickets. Carlyn was also an avid bird watcher, she really enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels, (her favorite squirrel she even named Sandy), and watching them out the window at her feeders. Carlyn loved all of these things but her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren grow up.  Holidays were her favorite time of the year.

Carlyn is survived by five children, Jim Prichard, Kim Purk, and Kris (Dave) Baburek of Belle Plaine; Dave Prichard of Lansing, IA, and Kelly (Chet) Cooper of Cedar Rapids. 14 grandchildren, Jami (Michael) Canavit, Erin (Jess) Prichard, Patrick Prichard, Sarah (Travis) Kramer, Bob (Nettie) Purk, Mark Purk (Sonya), Alex Purk, Beth Purk (Alex), Dee (Bryant) Robinson, Darcy (Marshall) Schneider, Dani (Andrew) Wollmuth, Nicole Prichard, Logan (Julie) Baburek, Chance Baburek(Lilly). 30 great-grandchildren,  brother, Kevin Viall;  brother-in-law, Willie Calderwood and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Evelyn Viall; sister, Cathi Calderwood; maternal grandparents, Charles and Rose (Peska) Dvorak; paternal grandparents, David and Margaret (Vandivier) Viall; great-grandson, Kieran Kramer; son-in-law, Tim Purk; and daughter-in-law, Sherry Prichard

The family would like to thank her previous home health workers, Kelli, Amy, Samantha and Jillian.  Also, her loving Essence of Life Hospice Team, Jess, Rick, Amy, Melissa for all of their help. They all are so kind and do such an amazing job!
