Arlene M. Rabe, 90, died Monday, February 16, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, February 21 at the First Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine with Pastor Dean Duncan presiding. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 PM Friday at the church and one hour before the service. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Arlene M. Rabe was born November 20, 1924 to John and Alfreeda Grunewald Sindt in Keystone. She attended school through the 8th grade at Keystone, and later married Charles H. Rabe on May 24, 1947 at the First Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Together they had two children, David and Charlene. In her life, she was a homemaker, she painted and wallpapered in houses, made pies for the sale barn, worked at Funk's, and was for a time the janitor for the First Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Women in Mission, the First Lutheran Church, several bowling leagues, and the P.T.A. Arlene enjoyed playing cards and Bingo at the community center and the casino. Arlene is survived by a son, David of Belle Plaine; daughter, Charlene (Ed) McDonough of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Chad (fiancée, Karin Moore) McDonough and Chris (Brandy) McDonough of Cedar Rapids, Ryan Rabe of Chicago and Howard (Cheryl) Rowe of London, England; great-grandchildren, Molly, Shaw, and Carson McDonough, and Nathan Macho, all of Cedar Rapids and Olivia, Jonathan, Sarah, and Avery Rowe of London. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles; brothers, Glen, Alvin, Willis, and Mike Sindt; sisters, Inez Selken, Mabel Struck, Leona Rieck, and Donna Mae Rieck.
