Anthony "Antonio" Carmelo Martinez, 71, of Coralville, IA passed away Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Belle Plaine Specialty Care, Belle Plaine, IA.

Anthony was born June 24, 1953 the son of Carmelo Martinez Forner and Braulia Dolores Vasquez. He graduated from John F Kennedy High School in Paterson, NJ. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine serving in the Vietnam War, after he served in the Marines he enlisted in the United States Air Force.

He was a jack of all trades and worked all over the world including being Captain of ships that traveled to South America one of his favorite jobs was driving his ice cram truck in Pomona, California.

Anthony was a champion chess player and enjoyed watching Saturday morning cartoons and the three stooges.

Anthony is survived by his wife, Yuneidis Araujo Castilla of Kearney, Nebraska; daughters, Caridad "Kandie" Martinez-Garcia of Bethlehem, PA, Angelina Martinez of Texas, Catalina and Khalia Martinez of Costa Rica; step-son, Joseph Collazo of New York; grandchildren, Angel A. Martinez, Carmen E. Dominguez, Angelina and Cristian Collazo; great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Angelia and Alessia; siblings Marilinda Martinez of Orlando, Fl; and many more nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carmen Martinez and stepson, Miguel Rivera.
