Ambrose H. Gibney, 92, Norway died Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at his home. Services: Monday, September 8, 10:00 AM. St. Michael's Catholic Church, Norway, with Rev. Craig Steimel officiating. Visitation: 4-7 Sunday at the Parish Center. Burial: St. Michael's Cemetery. Ambrose was born January 3, 1922 near Watkins to James E. and Florence Smith Gibney. He graduated from Norway High School and attended Cedar Rapids Business College. Ambrose served his country honorably during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Ambrose was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Watkins Bank board, Benton County ASCS committee, Lenox Insurance board, Benton County Veteran's Commission, American Legion Post #234, and Catholic Order of Foresters. He enjoyed farming, visiting with friends, and was devoted to his faith and family. Ambrose is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Alice; sons Don (Sandra), Lynn (Kim), and Dave (Ann) Gibney; grandchildren, Patrick Gibney, Sara Kula, Brooke Gibney, Beth Fines, Lauren Pokrzywinski, Kate Gibney, MaryAnn, Janelle, Renee, and Aaron Gibney; great-grandchild, Meghan Kula; brother Bob (Sara) Stark; sister-in-law Germaine Gibney. Preceding him in death were his parents; stepmother Marie Gibney; brother James; and stepsister Edith Roslien. Arrangements are with Brosh Funeral Service, Norway.
