Almeda Courtney, 83, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 at her home.

Celebration of life is 4-8 p.m. Tues. March 13, 2018 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine at a later date. Memorials may be made to family. Online condolences can be sent to family at www.hrabakfuneralhome.com

Almeda was born July 15, 1934 to Charles and Cannie (Poole) Kahler. She attended Ladora Country School and graduated from Marengo High School. After school, she worked as a telephone operator and at Rockwell Collins. In 1956 Almeda married Bill Meck. To this union three children were born. In June 1974 she married Dee Courtney, together they owned and operated The Friendly Tap in Belle Plaine from the late 70's to early 80's. The couple were a team, you would not find one without the other. Following the Tap, she worked for the Belle Plaine Nursing home until retirement.

Almeda enjoyed crossword puzzles, candy crush, playing cards, but most of all she loved to spend time with family and friends.

She was a member of Royal Neighbors Lodge.

She is survived by her children, Raymond Meck, Kannie "Chris" (David) Upah, Gene (Julie) Meck all of Belle Plaine; grandchildren, Christopher (Donna), Jennifer (Brad), Daniel (Krystal), Carl (Kaylin) and Matt (Tosha); great-grandchildren, Aden, AJ, Landon, Allee, Sofia and Riley; faithful companion, Mercedes, along with many family and friends.

Almeda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dee; sister, Christine and several brothers.
