Maxine Craig, 90, of Hartwick, Iowa, will be remembered Monday, July 7, 2008 with a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. She passed away Thursday, July 3 at Brooklyn Community Estates, Brooklyn, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 6 at the funeral home.
Born April 28, 1918 on a farm near Hartwick to John and Bertha (Lyman) Bope, she graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1935 and taught in a one room school house near Malcom and Brooklyn for several years.
She was married to Delmar Scott in 1939, raising four daughters until his death in 1955. She then married Merle Craig in 1959 and made their home on a farm northeast of Hartwick.
She is survived by her daughters, Jane Craig of Hartwick, Patricia Nicholas of Rock City, Illinois, Marilyn (Allen) Read of Indianola, and Diane (Mike) Harden of Victor, one brother, Kenneth Bope of Maggie Valley, North Carolina, twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents, two brothers, four sisters, and a great-granddaughter. |
