Laura Lee Welch, 96, formerly of Belle Plaine, died Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at the Hiawatha Care Center from complications of age. Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday at the Christ United Methodist Church by Rev. James Campbell. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Hrabak Funeral Home is assisting the family.
She is survived by daughters, Jo Anne Rogers of Belle Plaine, Beverly (John) Lahn of Poinciana, FL, and Connie (Roger) Pyburn of Pensacola, FL; twin sister, Lura Fife Beaman of Indianola and sister-in-law, Marie Welch Crabbs of Winterset; also ten grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, a brother, and a son-in-law.
Laura and her husband, Raymond, managed Lanes Clothing for 33 years. She was a housemother at Iowa State and Drake Universities for six years.
Memorials may be directed to the Christ United Methodist Church Piano Restoration Fund.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Hiawatha Care Center, St. Luke’s Hospice, and Doctors Nelson and Ghosh for their care and compassion.
