Graveside services for Carleton Paul Groszkruger, 86, will be at 2:00 PM Monday, June 9, 2008 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine by Rev. David Crow. Mr. Groszkruger died January 20, 2008 in Dallas, Texas.
Friends and relatives may gather at the Belle Plaine Country Club following the committal. Hrabak Funeral Home is handling local arrangements.
Carleton was born May 6, 1921, in Fostoria, Iowa. He grew up in Spencer, Milford, and Belle Plaine, Iowa, attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, and graduated with a B.A. degree from the University of Iowa. Carl was in the 8th Air Force from 1942-1945. He was in the banking business and worked with the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis. Carl became president of the Citizens State Bank in Belle Plaine. He married Gladys Benning on June 19, 1955, and they had three children: Carla Brooks of Heath, Texas, Tamra Wulff of Omaha, Neb., and James Russell Groszkruger, who died at birth.
He was also president of Rotary, was a Paul Harris Fellow, president of the Belle Plaine Improvement Co., and president of the Belle Plaine Country Club. He and Gladys retired in Green Valley and lived there until they moved to Dallas.
Surviving are his wife; children; sister, Electa Jean Trapp; grandchildren, Victoria Brooks, Alex Wulff and Austin Wulff; and stepgrandchildren, Chera Wilson, Erica Brooks and Heather Brooks.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, and his parents, Paul and Hazel Groszkruger.
